A STRATEGY FOR THE 21ST CENTURY: A PLANET OF PEOPLE
When Globalization overruns you, the cost is high.
Globalization creates winners and losers. It has over-rewarded those with hierarchical advantage and raised a billion from poverty. It flattened large swaths of the blue-collar working class in some countries and will now shatter white-collar hopes. While we can mitigate the damages of “disruptive change,” we seldom do.
Identity is like a fortress of virtues. From the vantage point of people living “as they were told” and struggling hard to provide for themselves and their children, Globalization arbitrarily doles out awards and punishments. It just shows up and rewrites your fate.
Every generation everywhere has had to get or keep itself out of poverty. We struggle to secure and sustain political/economic goals and then fight over how to distribute the benefits. We must take a long list of factors into account, including productivity that varies over a lifetime, inequalities of intelligence, poor choices and performance, and unequal opportunity or sheer inequality based on inherited wealth, class, and social stratification, not to mention all manners of tyranny.
More than ever, the “common person” is playing checkers in a game of chess. We are, at best, pawns on the domestic board, while transnational people and companies are playing three-dimensional chess. The 21st century wannabe-aristocrats leap between the domestic, financial, and global boards. Wealth has only a tenuous connection to tangible things like agriculture, industry, and work, and you can salt it away tax-free.

AMERICAN REFUGEES - A STRATEGY FOR US-AMERICANS IN THE 21ST CENTURY
A fish jumps out of the tank, or the tank springs a leak. It doesn't matter; the fish ends up in the same place, "out of water."
Global Agility is about fitting into our radically new global multicultural world. It focuses on the culturally defined aspects of your identity for a good reason. Whatever your life experience, personality, or the human qualities you emphasize, it is primarily in these dimensions that you succeed or fail to bond with people from other cultures.
If talking to people about politics or religion can be impolite, talking to them about who they are can be downright insulting. However, it is different when a person is already experiencing an "identity crisis" brought on by a radical change in their environment. No one wants you to help them out of a pool, but they will grab your hand if you pull them into a lifeboat.
Crisis-level change happens suddenly to refugees, but it is also gradually happening to everyone living in the era of Globalization.
Do you agree that you are a refugee, at least partly? If you do not…
"You take the blue pill, the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. If you do, "You take the red pill, you stay in wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes."
